NORTHRIDGE (CNS) - A man was shot to death during an argument with another man at a party in Northridge, and the suspect remains at large today, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 19500 block of Parthenia Street, in the parking lot of a banquet hall where several hundred people were attending an engagement party, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 29-year-old victim, Edgar Rodriguez of Anaheim, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said. The suspect fled, and the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help to make an arrest. Investigators said Rodriguez and suspect were attending an engagement party at the location when Rodriguez, the suspect and several other party-goers engaged in an altercation.

The suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking Rodriguez multiple times in the upper torso, according to police. A crime scene was established, and Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide is investigating.
