Lower-Income Households Cutting Back on Restaurant Outings

Many are cutting back on going out to restaurants. 

  • According to research from The NPD Group, there's been less dining out for those in lower-income households.
  • Data found that households earning under $75 thousand ate at home 89% of the time.
  • The quarter ending in June showed a decline in restaurant visits for that same income bracket.
  • Meanwhile, one in four families in the $45 thousand budget reported skipping restaurant dinings because of cost.
