Couple Gets Fined $1500 For Parking On Their Own Driveway

Judy and Ed Craine kept their automobile parked on the driveway in front of their San Francisco home for decades before they started receiving fines.

  • According to San Francisco officials say the fine was based on decades-old city code.
  • They were given a $1,542 fine for parking on their own property, and if they didn't remove the car off the carpad, they would have to pay $250 every day.
  • The couple told KGO-TV  that the area has been used as a parking space ever since the 1910 construction of the house.
  • The planning department informed the couple that the city would be willing to overlook the punishment if they could show that the lot had previously been utilized for parking.
  • The Craines showed the planning department of a photo from 34 years ago, but according to officials the photo wasn't old enough.
