Leading WHO Adviser: Monkeypox Likely Spread By Sex At Raves In Europe

The spread of 'monkeypox' is grabbing headlines, and has people concerned about the potential of another major pandemic...

But one health expert says the disease is nothing like COVID-19.

World Health Organization adviser Dr. David Heymann says it's unlikely we'll see a widespread transmission of monkeypox: "This is not COVID... it does not spread in the air and we have vaccines to protect against it".

Monkeypox appears to have spread through sexual activity... And some experts believe the current wave can be traced to a pair of rave parties in Europe.

"We know monkeypox can spread when there is close contact with the lesions of someone who is infected, and it looks like sexual contact has now amplified that transmission," Heymann added.
