Food Prices Expected To Rise Even More

If you feel you're already overpaying for groceries, brace yourself: prices are expected to continue going up.

  • The United States Department of Agriculture has released its food price outlook for 2022, which predicts the average cost of groceries will climb another 4 percent by the end of the year. Individually, cereal and baked goods are expected to rise 4 percent; dairy prices are predicted to climb by 5 percent; and poultry will take a 7 percent jump, the report reveals.
  • Even going out to eat won't save consumers from the jacked-up prices. The Department of Agriculture predicts the average cost of eating out will increase by 5.5 to 6.5 percent before the year is over.
  • What type of food has seen a bigger price jump than any other?
