North Carolina Teacher Resigns After Profane Rant Goes Viral

An unidentified teacher from North Carolina has resigned following a profane rant that went viral on social media.

Video shows a teacher at Southwest High School in North Carolina seemingly getting angry with his students and expressing how he was done playing around. This teacher told his students:
“f–king done playing with you idiots.”

WCTI News spoke to Cimayah Josey, the student that was able to record the rant. She discussed what she felt during the rant, she said:
“I was scared,” ... “I didn’t know what to do.”

The recording begins with the teacher asking his students if anyone else would like to test his authority. After this, his profane rant began.

“Because I am f–kng done playing with you idiots,”

He continued by saying:

“I am here because I want to be here. I somewhat enjoy this job. You need something from me, I need nothing from you.”


Following these statements, he turned to Cimayah saying:

“You can go through life and live on the f–king system, draw your paycheck on the first and the fifteenth from my taxes and live just an absolute horrible life, I don’t care,”
“You can be another statistic, I don’t care. That’s on you.”

The video footage also captured the teacher saying:

“And if you don’t like my language, I don’t give a s–t,” 

After the teacher noticed that Cimayah reacting to his comments, he ordered her to leave the room.

Following the rant going viral, officials of the Onslow County Schools said that the teacher was no longer working at the school.

“In the Onslow County School system, we expect only the highest standards of behavior from our students and staff, and that we treat every member of our school family with dignity and respect,”

The statement continued by saying:

“The type of behavior exhibited in this situation will not be tolerated and is certainly not representative of the employees of Southwest High School, or any other employees who work in our district.”

Cimayah told WCTI News that the rant began after a student did not put their phone and computer away quickly enough. She said that she believes he went too far with everything he said.

“I felt like what he was saying was wrong,” ... “I felt like it was racially motivated. It was disrespectful. Your job is to encourage me and push me to be the best I can be. Even though it wasn’t said directly to me, dang, that’s how you really think about us?”

Cimayah's mother agreed with what her daughter said, the teacher went way too far with his statements.

“I don’t talk to my children like that, so I don’t really expect an educator to talk to my child like that,”
“To listen to the video for the first time, I had tears in my eyes.”

Nicky Josey, Cimayah's mother said

While discussing the rant with McClathy News, Cimayah expressed how she was traumatized by the situation and hopes to become a pediatrician or speech therapist later in life.

“I just know that regardless of what he said to me, I know that I’m not a statistic,”

she continued:

“And I know that I’m not going to be a statistic because I have the support that I need and, regardless, I’m going to make it.”
