Anaheim Man Charged with Gunning Down Witness to Argument with Girlfriend

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 52-year-old Anaheim man was charged today with shooting a man who witnessed the defendant arguing with a girlfriend.

Adalid Arcigaplancarte was charged with murder, robbery, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and criminal threats, all felonies, and he faces possible sentencing enhancements for the discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury or death and the personal use of a firearm.

Arcigaplancarte is accused of killing 40-year-old Jorge Becerra Vera of Stanton on Friday night, according to Sgt. Shane Carringer of the Anaheim Police Department.

The defendant was arguing with a woman he had been dating when he saw the victim watching them, Carringer said. Arcigaplancarte confronted Becerra- Vera and shot him before fleeing, Carringer said.

Police were called about 7 p.m. Friday to the 1300 block of South Euclid Street to respond to the gunfire, Carringer said. When they arrived they found the victim and took him to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Arcigaplancarte was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of South Main Street, Carringer said.
