VAN NUYS (CNS) - A man, approximately 50 years old, was killed today in a hit-and-run accident in Van Nuys, authorities said.
Police were looking to identify the driver of a Jeep Wrangler who might have witnessed the fatal crash, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The suspect vehicle was going southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard, north of Victory Boulevard, at about 4:10 a.m. when it struck the pedestrian, who was outside a marked crosswalk.
The Wrangler stopped briefly, facing northbound on Sepulveda with its headlights on next to the pedestrian lying on the road, before also leaving the scene.
Arriving paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Police had no description of the suspect vehicle.
