Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is speaking up after catching heat for turning away from a falling photographer at a Rams victory event.
Stafford discussed the moment that quickly went viral on his wife Kelly's podcast.
He says that it “happened really quickly and suddenly and unexpectedly."
“I wish I had a better reaction in the moment...I didn’t. I apologize to her for that. All in all, I’m glad she’s doing alright.”
The Staffords said that soon after the incident, they reached out to the photographer, Kelly Smiley, and sent her flowers.
Later once it was revealed Smiley's injuries were more intense than originally thought, the Staffords and the Rams organization said they will be covering her medical expenses as well as replacing the camera equipment that was damaged in the fall.
