Disneyland is set to bring back its tram that shuttles guests from the parking structures to the parks, bringing relief to hundreds of thousands of tired parents.
The service is set to resume on February 23rd after a nearly 2-year hiatus that forced visitors to the theme parks to walk a significant distance to the entrances of both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
After only its fourth closure in history back on March 14th of 2020, the parks’ gates remained locked for 412 days – the longest in the attraction’s history. When gates reopened amid the pandemic, it was at a reduced capacity and temporarily restricted visitors to California residents only. This meant that there were fewer people to shuttle to and from the parks from the parking structures.
Since then, nearly all restrictions have been lifted, enabling everyone to return to the Happiest Place on Earth without first needing a temperature check, practice social distancing and wearing a mask throughout the entirety of their stay. It should be noted that reservations for admission are still being required, so a spontaneous trip to the Orange County oasis remains off the books.
Between now and the 23rd, guests will still be permitted to utilize the walkway from the parking structures to the main entrance esplanade between Disneyland and the California Adventure parks. Once the trams return, guests still wanting to punish their legs and feet can use the pedestrian bridge over Magic Way to get to the parks.
