WHITTIER (CNS) - At least two homes were destroyed in a brush fire that blackened about seven acres in the Whittier area today.
The fire was first reported about 2:30 p.m. in about two acres of brush in the area of Cinco View Drive and East Banyon Rim Drive, near Sycamore Park, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Fixed-wing aircraft and more than 200 firefighters were requested to battle the flames, which quickly engulfed one home and caused extensive damage to another next door.
Firefighters were still attacking the brush fire as of 4 p.m. No injuries were immediately reported.
