Rescue workers in Kentucky can't go door-to-door to check on residents because "there are no doors" left in a good part of the tornado-ravaged state, says Governor Andy Beshear. In some cases, parts of entire towns are gone, he adds.
- "I've got towns that are gone -- that are just, I mean, gone," the governor says. "You go door-to-door to check on people and see if they're okay. There are no doors. It's devastating."
- One of those towns is Dawson Springs, where an estimated 75 percent of its structures and landmarks have been wiped out, leaving more than 3,000 people homeless, according to Mayor Chris Smiley. "It's the worst thing I've ever seen," he says. "It's just devastating."
