New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she plans to sign an executive order to address any health care worker shortages as the state's health care vaccine mandate has taken effect.
- All health care workers in the state were required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday (9/27).
- Hochul said she's prepared to deploy medically trained National Guard officers and bring retired health care workers back into service.
- At New York City's 11 public hospitals, about 5,000 out of 43,000 employees were not vaccinated as of Monday morning.
- Officials said those unvaccinated employees will be put on unpaid leave but may return if they get vaccinated.
