U.S. Flies Haitian Migrants Home from Texas

The U.S. has flown tree planes full of Haitian migrants out of Texas and back to Haiti.

  • According to an anonymous government official, the number of flights are expected to increase to six daily.
  • Many migrants had been living in South America, but were now seeking asylum in the U.S.
  • Thousands of migrants are said to have been living under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.
  • Ariel Henry, Haiti's Prime Minister, tweeted out, “We want to reassure them that measures have already been taken to give them a better welcome upon their return to the country and that they will not be left behind.”
“We have the situation in the south with the earthquake," Election Minister Mathias Pierre said. "The economy is a disaster, (and) there are no jobs. The prime minister should negotiate with the U.S. government to stop those deportations in this moment of crises."
