LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose four-tenths of a cent today to $4.383 after changing by one-tenth of a cent or being unchanged eight of the previous nine days.
The average price is three-tenths of a cent higher than one week ago, 4.4 cents more than one month ago and $1.196 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen $1.151 since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose one-tenth of a cent to $4.35, one day after remaining unchanged. It is four-tenths of a cent higher than one week ago, 5.1 cents more than one month ago and $1.179 greater than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen $1.142 since the start of the year.
Prices have been relatively flat this week with continued strong demand balanced by a larger supply from increased production at refineries, Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager, told City News Service.
Oil prices dropping below $70 per barrel over concerns about increasing COVID-19 cases around the world blunting economic recoveries in many countries has also had “a tempering effect" on pump prices, Spring said.
