LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A run of seven increases in eight days to the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County ended today with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent to $4.352.

The average price increased 1.7 cents over the previous eight days, including two-tenths of a cent Monday, to its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.1 cents more than one week ago, 9.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.219 greater than one year ago

The average price has risen $1.12 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price and higher demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

The Orange County average price rose two-tenths of a cent to $4.315, one day after dropping two-tenths of a cent. It is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, 10.1 cents higher than one month ago and $1.20 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.107 since the start of the year.
