An accused Scottish rapist who faked his own death in California has now been sentenced to prison.
Kim Avis will spend the next 15 years behind bars for the rapes of three women in the United Kingdom.
The punishment comes down after Avis, who had been released on bail, allegedly went missing in the water at California's Monastery Beach.
Avis' son told investigators his father had gone out for an evening swim and never came back.
However, investigators doubted his story and five months after he allegedly disappeared, Avis was arrested in Colorado and extradited back to Scotland.
