INGLEWOOD (CNS) - SoFi Stadium is already a fixture in Inglewood, but developers announced today that the first phase of the surrounding retail, office, residential and entertainment complex surrounding the stadium has reached 50% completion.

“It is exciting to witness this new destination take shape into what has become one of Los Angeles' most profound and architecturally significant landmarks,'' Jason Gannon, managing director of SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, said in a statement. “The entire 300-acre development encapsulates world-class design and architectural elements that present an incredible experience unlike any other development in the country. We look forward to continue bringing the destination to life and further realizing Stan Kroenke's vision for Los Angeles' newest destination.''

Created by Kroenke -- owner of the Los Angeles Rams -- the sprawling development covers property that was formerly home to the Hollywood Park racetrack. The project surrounding the 70,000-seat SoFi Stadium will include 5 million square feet of office space, 890,000 square feet of retail, a 6,000-seat performance theater, 300-room hotel and 2,500 housing units. It will also feature a six-acre lake and 25 acres of parks and plazas.

According to the developers, one of the first pieces of the project set to open this year is the 380,000-square-foot NFL Building at Hollywood Park, which will become home to the NFL's West Coast headquarters starting this summer. The league, currently based in Culver City, will occupy more than 214,000 square feet in the building, including a custom-built NFL studio and support space. The building will feature private office terraces with views into SoFi Stadium.

About 320,000 square feet of retail space is under construction at the project, set to open next spring. Among the tenants that have signed on are Sky Gourmet Tacos, the Antojitos Martin juice bar, Residency Art Gallery, Cinepolis theater complex, Iconix Fitness and a venture by the founder of the Inglewood-based Three Weavers Brewing Company.
