COMPTON (CNS) - Authorities today identified a man who was fatally shot in Compton, and detectives continued their efforts to find his killer.
The attack happened about 3:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Central Avenue, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Esteve Mendez, 24, of Compton died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
“Deputies responded to the area and noticed the victim seated in the driver's seat of a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso,'' Koerner said.
A motive for the shooting was unknown, and a description of the shooter was not available. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
