A new Gallup poll shows that fewer Americans are going to church.
According to the numbers, church membership in the U.S. dropped below 50 percent for the first time ever last year with just 47 percent saying they belong to a church, synagogue, or mosque.
Church membership has been steadily declining for the last 20 years and researchers seem to have an answer as to why.
Age!
The decline seems to be heavily linked to age with only one-third of millennials belonging to a place of worship.
At the same time, the number of Americans with no religious affiliation has risen from 8 percent up to 21 percent over the same period.
