CANOGA PARK (CNS) - Fire ripped through an apartment on the second floor of a three story apartment building in Canoga Park this morning.
Firefighters responded at 2:13 a.m. to the 20900 block of Gresham Street, near De Soto Avenue, and found flames shooting from the second floor unit, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A total of 50 firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and a knock down was called at 2:44 a.m., Humphrey said.
In the two hours after the fire was put out, a total of eight adults and a child came forward complaining of trouble breathing. All were taken to a hospital in fair condition, Humphrey said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
