The volcanic eruption in Fagradalsfjall on the Reykjanes peninsula in Southwest Iceland erupted Friday for the first time in 800 years.
They had been expecting the eruption for several weeks and no one was hurt. People traveled miles and miles to get a look at the hot lava but they had to shut the site down due to high levels of noxious gas.
Drone operator Bjorn Steinbekk captured some stunning footage allowing spectacular shots of the lava river.
