LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 24th consecutive day and 44th time in 45 days, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.776, its highest amount since Dec. 5, 2019.
The average price has increased 42.8 cents in the past 45 days, including a half-cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.3 cents more than one week ago, 27 cents higher than one month ago and 23.9 cents greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the 25th consecutive day and 58th time in 59 days, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $3.756, its highest amount since Dec. 2, 2019. It has increased 53.2 cents in the last 59 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 4.4 cents more than one week ago, 26.5 cents higher than one month ago and 26.3 cents greater than one year ago.
“The pace of gas price increases has slowed down, indicating that the temporary supply squeeze at the end of February due to a gasoline shortage in Arizona is winding down,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“However, investment in California gasoline futures remains strong in anticipation of increased demand when more of the population is vaccinated.''
