LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 19th consecutive day and 39th time in 40 days, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.745, its highest amount since Dec. 8, 2019.
The average price has increased 39.7 cents in the past 40 days, including 1.3 cents on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 10.7 cents more than one week ago, 30.9 cents higher than one month ago and 18.3 cents greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the 20th consecutive day and 53rd time in 54 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.728, its highest amount since Dec. 4, 2019. It has increased 50.4 cents in the last 54 days, including 1.2 cents on Saturday.
The Orange County average price is 10.8 cents more than one week ago, 30.8 cents higher than one month ago and 21.5 cents greater than one year ago.
The run of rising prices has been the result of increasing crude oil prices, trader activity in the futures markets and the Texas deep freeze, which ``has diverted some California gasoline production to Arizona,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
