SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 28-year-old man was charged today with stabbing another man in Dana Point.
Cosme Jesus Rodrigurezteran was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with sentencing-enhancement allegations for inflicting great bodily injury. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana on Friday and was ordered back to court March 12 for a pretrial hearing in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
The victim said he got into a conflict with another man in a parking lot in the 34000 block of La Plaza about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, said Orange County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Breckner. The victim was stabbed in the back and taken to an area hospital by his friends, Breckner said.
It was not immediately known how seriously he was hurt, Breckner said. Sheriff's investigators were working to determine what provoked the stabbing.
