LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Criminal charges were filed today against a Los Angeles man and woman who allegedly trafficked a 15-year-old girl who had run away from a placement home in Simi Valley.
Reson Richard, 27, and Samantha Davis, 21, are charged with one felony count each of human trafficking of a minor for a commercial sex act and pimping a minor under 16.
The two were arrested last Saturday, when police made a traffic stop near Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue because the vehicle Richard was driving didn't have license plates, according to Long Beach police.
Richard was on post-release community supervision and is a registered sex offender, while Davis, his front seat passenger, had an outstanding warrant for suspicion of prostitution, according to police.
Officers also observed a 15-year-old girl sitting in the back seat of the vehicle, police said.
Vice detectives who were called to the scene determined Richard was in violation of multiple conditions of his community release, and “the investigation revealed both the male and female adult suspects were trafficking the female juvenile victim,'' according to a LBPD statement.
The girl was placed into the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
