LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 20-day streak of increases that boosted the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its highest amount since March 7 ended today with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent to $3.519.
The average price increased 17.2 cents during the streak, including four-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.3 cents more than one week ago and 24.1 cents higher than one month ago but 5.8 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since March 1, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.504, one day after a 33-day streak of increases totaling 28.2 cents ended when it dropped a half-cent.
The Orange County average price is 4.5 cents more than one week ago and 24.2 cents higher than a month ago but 1.4 cents less than one year ago.
