LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 16th consecutive day and 32nd time in the past 33 days, increasing 1.1 cents to $3.498, its highest amount since March 9.
The average price has risen 26.7 cents over the past 33 days, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.2 cents more than one week ago and 26.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 8.1 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price increased one cent to $3.486, its highest amount since March 5 and the 30th consecutive daily increase. It is 6.6 cents more than one week ago and 26.4 cents higher than a month ago, but 4.1 cents less than one year ago.
The rising prices are the result of some refinery trouble, the impending switch to summer-blend gasoline and the lifting of the state's stay-at-home orders that increased demand, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
