After seeing their lowest daily case count in months, California officials are now urging residents to continue practicing coronavirus protocols -- which means staying away from Super Bowl parties...
Health and Human Services Secretary Mark Ghaly says he fears Super Bowl viewing parties could spark another outbreak in California – especially now that statewide lockdown orders have been rescinded.
“As I’ve said before, you give COVID an inch and it will take a mile,” Ghaly said. “So, don’t fumble this, we’re almost there.”
Over the past two weeks, California has seen a 29 percent drop in hospitalizations, state data reveals. And just yesterday, health officials reported 12,000 new cases of COVID-19, marking California’s lowest daily count since before the Thanksgiving surge.

On the school side of things, a regional affiliate of the American Academy of Pediatrics just announced that they believe all L.A.-area schools need to be reopened, immediately...
“A large majority of the 1.5 million students in L.A. County has not been physically in a classroom in nearly a year,” said the statement from Southern California Chapter 2 of the academy. “This sad consequence of the pandemic should be addressed immediately with the reopening of schools.”
