LOS ANGELES (CNS) - One person was killed this morning in a crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in the Harbor Gateway area of Los Angeles that may have been triggered by a wrong-way driver.
The crash was reported about 12:40 a.m. on the southbound Harbor Freeway just north of the Gardena (91) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told the CHP that a sedan was northbound in the southbound number 3 lane before the crash, and that may have caused at least one vehicle to overturn. Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash.
A news videographer at the scene said a woman in an SUV was freed from her wreckage by firefighters and transported to a hospital. Officers at the scene told him a wrong-way driver caused the crash, he said.
While a SigAlert was not immediately issued, the CHP stopped all southbound lanes and shut down the Redondo Beach Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound Harbor Freeway. Lanes 1 and 2 were reopened about 3 a.m. and lanes 3, 4, 5 and 6 were reopened at 5:15 a.m.
