Meet KFI's Employee Of The Month for February -- Alex Razo!

We might be a little biased, but we have an amazing crew here at KFI. They're the hardest working people in radio.

So each month, we like to present one of these employees with the KFI Employee of The Month honor to recognize these amazing people and to give you a little more insight into those that bring you the programming you love each day, and the best part is that these winners are chosen by their peers.

Each Employee of the Month will receive a few fun prizes, a certificate, an official award, will be featured in an on-air promo and their name will be enshrined on a perpetual plaque that will be located in our building.

So we'd like to introduce you to KFI's Employee of the Month for February 2021 ---- Alex Razo!

Alex literally walked into our offices as an intern just FOUR years ago on January 25, 2017, and from the moment we met her we knew she was destined to be a part of our team. She was hired on part-time right after her internship and spent the next year being trained to take over producing duties on Wake Up Call w/ Jennifer Jones Lee and The Bill Handel Show.

She's funny, fashionable, and lives and breathes radio, her passion is clear to anyone who meets her.

Here's some of what Alex's co-workers had to say about her.

"Amazing producer. Able to take many hits, and still stand strong. Can handle Handel like no other!"
"Alex is one of the hardest working people at KFI! First, she has to put up with Bill Handel daily. That in itself deserves an award! Alex is the most fashionable person in the building at 3 a.m. Alex is kind, patient, welcoming and always offers a smile and words of encouragement."
"Turns the lights on to start the day and then cranks up the energy for The Morning Show."
"Cat-herder in chief, Handel whisperer, breaking news empress, fashion icon, and overall hilarious and nice person!"
"She is incredibly awesome, smart and an amazing producer that stays cool in any breaking news situation."
"Impressive from the very first day she walked in as an intern. There is nothing she can't handle...including Handel!"

We asked Alex some questions so you can get to know her a little better!

What made you decide on a career in radio?"

"It was trial and error. I went to college originally for a business degree and realized halfway through it wasn't for me. Then I tried out public relations, which was doable, but not for me either. Eventually I made my way into broadcast journalism and after working at the school's radio station and having an internship here, it finally felt right."

What's do you like most about your job?

"The people...I laugh every day and everyone is very receptive to helping me out whenever I need it."

Any pet peeves?

"The two biggest: people who are late and don't let you know, and those won't follow directions."

Favorite hobbies

"Art. I love creating and studying all kinds of art...if I had the talent I'd be a painter."

Favorite food / drink?

"Italian, Korean, Thai, In-n-Out, Chick-fil-A...drink wise it's either boring like water, tea or lemon lime Gatorade. As for alcohol, always a gin and tonic or silver tequila."

What's the perfect day off for you consist of?

"Sleeping! With early mornings that's mandatory. Or just spending time with my mother or my best friend I haven't seen in a long time."

What's the one thing that people don't know about you?

"Probably that I'm a lot more self-conscious than I seem. I'm always afraid of saying the wrong thing."

Any advice for anyone just starting in the radio business?

"LEARN AND TRY EVERYTHING! Even if the opportunity doesn't present itself, ask to learn it or shadow someone. The only way I ever learned what was or wasn't for me was by doing it."
