LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 19th time in 20 days, increasing 1 cent to $3.374, its highest amount since March 18.
The average price has risen 14.3 cents over the past 20 days, including 1.4 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 16 consecutive days then was unchanged on Tuesday.
The average price is 5.1 cents more than one week ago and 18.8 cents higher than one month ago but 22.2 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the 17th consecutive day to its highest amount since March 16, increasing 1.2 cents to $3.361. It has risen 14.3 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.3 cents on Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 5.4 cents more than one week ago and 19.3 cents higher than a month ago but 17.9 cents less than one year ago.
“The California Energy Commission reported (Wednesday) that gasoline inventories are at a three-month low, probably due to the start of the annual refinery maintenance period,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
