LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 18th time in 19 days, increasing 1.4 cents to $3.364, its highest amount since March 18.
The average price has risen 13.3 cents over the past 19 days, including two-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 16 consecutive days then was unchanged on Tuesday.
The average price is 5 cents more than one week ago and 18.2 cents higher than one month ago but 22.9 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the 16th consecutive day to its highest amount since March 16, increasing 1.3 cents to $3.349. It has risen 13.1 cents over the past 16 days, including a half-cent on Wednesday.
The Orange County average price is 5.4 cents more than one week ago and 18.7 cents higher than a month ago but 19.4 cents less than one year ago.
“The higher price of crude is outweighing sustained low gasoline demand and a build in gasoline supply,'' said Jeanette Casselano McGee, AAA's director, external communications. “Motorists can expect gas prices to continue to climb through at least the end of the month.''
