Conway's Interview with the Great Tommy Lasorda! # 2

Today we lost an American icon with the passing of Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda who passed away at the age of 93. There will never be another Tommy!

The Dodgers said Friday that he suffered heart failure at his home in Fullerton, California. Resuscitation attempts were made on the way to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday. Lasorda had a history of heart problems and had been hospitalized since the middle of November and for part of that time was in intensive care. He was just released from the hospital on Wednesday.

Lasorda managed the Dodgers from 1976 through 1996 and over that span won eight division titles, four National League pennants, and two World Series championships (1981, 1988).
He was a two-time Manager of the Year winner and managed four All-Star teams.
With 1,599 wins as a manager, Lasorda ranks 22nd in MLB history in the category.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
He would later become an ambassador for the baseball during his 71 years with the franchise.

Lasorda was a huge part of Conway's childhood, Timmy a die hard Dodgers fan and Lasorda was one of his idols. Sheron Bellio joined the Conway show as producer in October of 2014 and wanted to do something nice for Conway. Knowing that Tommy was one of Conway's sports idols she arranged for a surprise birthday call.
