LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 11th consecutive day, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.213, its highest amount since Sept. 23.
The average price has increased 6.6 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.5 cents Friday, its largest daily increase since July 24, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.2 cents more than one week ago and 6 cents higher than a month ago but 42 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the ninth time in 10 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.192, its highest amount since Sept. 15. It has risen 6 cents over the past 10 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Friday.
The Orange County average price is 3.6 cents more than one week ago and 6.8 cents higher than a month ago but 35.5 cents less than one year ago.
“The Auto Club is projecting a steep decline in the number of holiday travelers because of stay-at-home orders and concerns about the pandemic,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
“Although travel will be very light compared to last year, there is a bump in demand compared to prior weeks because of holiday travel and wholesale gasoline prices have also jumped after increased investor activity.''
