You can’t sue Pfizer or Moderna if you have severe vaccine side effects.

If you receive a Covid vaccine and experience any side effects, you probably won't be able to sue.

  • According to lawyers, Pfizer and Moderna are safe from lawsuits if anyone receiving a vaccine has any side effects.
  • People will also be unable to sue the Food and Drug Administration for issuing a vaccine for emergency use and employers who mandate employees be vaccinated.
  • The government's decade-old PREP Act could potentially be looked at for those who are severely injured from vaccinations. However, experts say that it is very unlikely compensation for legal fees or pain and suffering would occur.

Two workers at an Alaska hospital have suffered 'adverse reactions' after taking Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine.

  • The first worker had an allergic reaction within minutes of receiving the vaccine, and was hospitalized overnight after experiencing a rash, elevated heart rate and shortness of breath.
  • The second worker experienced 'less severe' symptoms and felt better within an hour.
  • These are the first reports of allergic reactions so far in the U.S. Several have been reported in the UK, which began vaccinations last week.

A second coronavirus vaccine could get FDA authorization in a matter of days.

  • On Thursday, an FDA panel endorsed Moderna's vaccine, clearing the way for emergency authorization, potentially as soon as Friday.
  • Moderna's vaccine was more than 90% effective in late-stage clinical trials and does not require ultra-cold storage like the Pfizer vaccine. If approved, up to 6 million doses could be distributed within the U.S. next week.
