LeBron James, Anthony Davis Make Preseason Debuts in Lakers Victory

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - LeBron James scored 11 points and Anthony Davis 10 in their 2020 preseason debuts tonight in the Los Angeles Lakers 112-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix.

James missed his first four shots, then made four of his final six in 14 minutes, 45 seconds of playing time. Davis made three of four shots in 17:32.

The Lakers outscored the Suns by two when James was in the game and by five when Davis was in the game.

Neither played in the second half.

James and Davis did not play in the Lakers' first two preseason games, victories over the Los Angeles Clippers Friday and Sunday at Staples Center.

Kyle Kuzma led six Lakers in double figures with 23 points, but Phoenix outscored the Lakers by five during the 31:42 Kuzma was in the game.

Reserves Talen Horton-Tucker added 18, Montrezel Harrell 11 and Quinn Cook 10 for the Lakers (3-0).

The Lakers led 53-44 at halftime, but were outscored 39-16 in the third quarter to trail 83-69 with Suns center Deandre Ayton scoring 12 of his team-high 21 points.

Kuzma made two 3-point baskets and newcomer Wesley Matthews one during an 11-0 run that cut the deficit to 86-84 with 7:43 to play.

The Lakers took the lead for good with 3:26 to play on Devontae Cacok's alley oop dunk. Cook's 3-point basket with 2:17 remaining ended the 9-0 run that gave the Lakers a 105-98 lead.

Cook iced the game with three free throws with 1.8 seconds left after Phoenix pulled within three.
