Woman Sought for Assault on Veteran in Santa Ana

Santa Ana police are asking for your help to find a woman who attacked a veteran who tried to help her.

Police say Randy McDonald heard a woman screaming outside an apartment complex in the 3000 block of West

First Street. McDonald, a former Air Force medic who lives in the complex, says he heard the yelling just after 8pm on October 21st.

He let her in the lobby and offered to make phone calls for her. The woman then asked for money to get a hotel room.

McDonald, who had been recently homeless, explained he wasn't able to. The interaction suddenly turned violent as the woman grabbed and punched him before walking away. The attack was captured on surveillance video.

The woman is described as Black, 20-30 years of age, between 5'2" and 5'4" and heavy set. She was wearing a pink jacket and tan leggings.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Cpl. Angel at (714) 245-8404 orDAngel@santa-ana.org.
