KFI's Employee Of The Month for November -- Tony Sorrentino

We might be a little biased, but we have an amazing crew here at KFI, but most of them you never hear from because they are working hard behind-the-scenes. (Those on-air people get ALL the glory!)

These behind-the-scenes workers are many times the hardest working people at the radio station and their dedication is greatly appreciated by all of us.

So each month, we honor one of these employees with the KFI Employee of The Month honor to recognize these amazing people and to give you a little more insight into the people that bring you the programming you love each day, and the best part is that these winners are chosen by their peers.

Each Employee of the Month will receive a few fun prizes, a certificate, an official award, will be featured in an on-air promo and their name will be enshrined on a perpetual plaque that will be located in our building.

So we'd like to introduce you to KFI's Employee of the Month for November....Board Operator / Engineer.... Tony Sorrentino!

Here's what some of Tony's co-workers had to say about him.

"Always one of the first people to step in and cover shifts when we need him. He also does so much behind the scenes work that no one realizes how much he does."
"Super helpful guy that just gets the job done. No task to difficult. was instrumental in getting talent successfully set up from home."
"Super nice guy. Never says no. Can remedy nearly any engineering situation."
"Literally used his own equipment to help hosts and staff work from home when the pandemic started. Tirelessly dedicated to his job."
"Simply put, so dedicated to KFI."

Tony has been working in radio for more than 23 years and if it wasn't for him, a lot of what we do here at KFI would not get done.

I asked Tony a few questions so you call can get to know him a little better...

When did you start at KFI?

My job interview was the Tuesday after the Phil Hendrie Queen Mary Wedding, so June of 1997. Also, the wedding was the first time I listened to the station. I thought 'this place sounds like a mad house!' My first shift was Sunday, August 31, 1997, the day Princess Diana Died.

What made you decide on a career in radio?

KNAC went off the air February 15, 1995, me and a friend decided that day to get into radio so we could bring it back. Totally stupid

What do you like most about your job?

What I do is always changing here. Shows, spot production, imaging, engineering, podcasts. I like being in the middle of where technology is going and what's next.

Any Pet Peeves?

Condiments

Favorite Hobbies

Going to punk and metal shows. Drinking wiskey at those concerts. Buying awesome band t-shirts there. Thanks Covid!

Favorite food?

Pizza, chips.

What is the one thing people dont know about you?

I don't know. Honestly at this point you guys know me better than I know myself. And if there is something, there's a reason why they don't know it!

Hear Mo's segment announcing Tony as Employee of the Month.

He's also the only KFI Employee with a bonafide classic arcade in his garage!
