Little Change to Average Southland Gas Prices

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped one-tenth of a cent today to $3.198, one day after remaining unchanged.

The average price is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 2.9 cents lower than one month ago and $1.058 cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has decreased 41.7 cents since the start of the year The Orange County average price was unchanged, remaining at $3.162, one day after rising three-tenths of a cent. It is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 4.2 cents lower than one month ago and $1.06 cheaper than one year ago. It has decreased 38.3 cents since the start of the year.

Prices rose sharply last October after three Los Angeles-area refineries slowed or halted production due to maintenance issues and no imported gasoline was available to make up for the shortfall, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
