LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped three-tenths of a cent today to $3.20, the sixth decrease in eight days.
The average price has dropped 1.9 cents over the past eight days, including four-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 1.6 cents less than one week ago, 2 cents lower than one month ago and 88.8 cents cheaper than one year ago when prices were rising sharply because of diminished supply primarily caused by unplanned maintenance issues at the Chevron and Marathon refineries in Los Angeles County and the absence of imported gasoline.
The average price has decreased 41.5 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.168, the eighth decrease in the past nine days. It has dropped 2.2 cents over the past nine days, including one-tenth of a cent on both Sunday and Monday.
The Orange County average price is 2 cents less than one week ago, 3.2 cents lower than one month ago and 90 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has decreased 37.7 cents since the start of the year.
