LOS ANGELES (CNS) - County officials reminded Southland residents today that the agency is continuing to provide safe sheltering for animals affected by the Bobcat Fire.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is sheltering 407 animals, including 243 dogs, 20 cats, 14 horses, 28 goats, and 57 fowl, said Don Belton of the county agency.
Additional animals are being accepted at the agency's four sheltering sites.
Livestock are being accepted at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 2551 W. Avenue H in Lancaster.
Companion animals are being accepted at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, 4275 Elton St.; at the Palmdale Animal Care Center, 38550 Sierra Highway; and at the Lancaster Animal Care Center, 5210 West Avenue I.
“We are happy to share all animals are safe and no injuries have been reported,'' Belton said in a statement. “This fire emergency serves as a reminder to horse and large animal owners across the county to develop actionable evacuation plans to reduce any loss and injury.''
