Scammers Target College Students with Fake Housing and Credit Card Offers

The Better Business Bureau is warning parents about several scams that are targeting college freshmen.

The BBB is reporting that more scammers are running ads for inexpensive apartments located near universities to lure in unsuspecting students.

When they get a call from an interested student, the scammer will either talk them into transferring a deposit to hold an apartment that doesn't exist, or ask for information that is used to drain their bank account.

A similar scam is being pulled but with the use of a help wanted ad asking them to pay up front for the work.

Another huge scam? Fake credit card with ridiculously low rates that ask you to pay an upfront charge to get the card.
