LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent today to $3.221 after rising one-tenth of a cent for two consecutive days.
The average price is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 45.5 cents lower than one year ago but 2 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 39.4 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $3.195, the third consecutive decrease, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday. It is eight-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 44 cents lower than one year ago but nine-tenths of a cent more than one month ago.
The Orange County average price has decreased 35 cents since the start of the year.
“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have dropped by about 10 cents a gallon in the last week due in part to an increase in gasoline stockpiles, so pump prices have begun dropping slightly,'' Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service.
