Several California Marijuana Farms Destroyed by Fires

Several marijuana farms have been destroyed by the wildfires burning in California -- and local cannabis farmers fear more losses are on the way...

Among the operations that have been scorched by the widespread fires is Sweet Creek Farms, which lost four-fifths of its crop on Wednesday, according to owner Keala Peterson. However, she did credit firefighters for being able to save part of the family's cannabis compound.

"It looks like a wasteland," she told Marijuana Business Daily, estimating she has already lost about $150,000 worth of product. "Pretty much, it’s a total loss."

Peterson also said there are several other cannabis operations currently in danger -- and there's nothing they can do to protect themselves...

"There are a ton of farms that are located in the fire’s path," she added. "No one’s out of the woods yet. This is just starting."

Peterson said her crops are not insured, and hopes they can salvage any plants that haven't burned.
