Average L.A. County Gas Price Rises For Eighth Time in Nine Days

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose three-tenths of a cent today to $3.172, the eighth increase in nine days.

The average price has risen 4.3 cents over the past nine days, including two-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, to its highest amount since March 26, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose six consecutive days before being unchanged on Tuesday.

The average price is 2.9 cents more than a week ago and 9.9 cents higher than one month ago but 52.8 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 44.3 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price today rose two-tenths of a cent to $3.163, the ninth consecutive increase. It has increased 4.9 cents over the past nine days, including one-tenth of a cent on Wednesday, to its highest amount since March 25.

The Orange County average price is 3.3 cents more than a week ago and 10.8 cents higher than one month ago but 51 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 38.2 cents since the start of the year.
