Southland Fire Task Force Deploying to Hawaii to Help in Hurricane Response

PACOIMA (CNS) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency today activated a Los Angeles County Fire Department 40-member water rescue team for deployment to the Hawaiian Islands to assist in the response to Hurricane Douglas.

California Task Force 2, headquartered in Pacoima, is an Urban Search and Rescue team with specialized equipment and training, said Los Angeles County fire Capt. Ron Haralson.

The task force will leave this afternoon for a deployment of 10 to 14 days in the Hawaiian Islands, Haralson said.
