Dodgers Rout Diamondbacks in Second Exhibition Game at Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Joc Pederson and Mookie Betts homered during a five-run second inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the Arizona Diamondbacks, 12-1, tonight in their second exhibition game at Dodger Stadium in 2020.

Chris Taylor hit a three-run homer during a six-run fifth inning as the Dodgers defeated Arizona for the second consecutive night. The Dodgers were 9-2 winners Sunday.

Corey Seager went 3-for-3 to lead the Dodgers 15-hit attack while A.J. Pollock, Pederson and Taylor both had two hits.

Left-hander Julio Urias and four relievers limited the Diamondbacks to six hits. Urias (1-0) allowed four hits, including Ildemaro Vargas' second-inning home run, over five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Pederson's homer drove in Corey Seager, who doubled leading off the second. Following Pederson's home run, Taylor walked and Will Smith singled and scored on Betts' homer.

Pederson and Taylor both drove in four runs. Pederson doubled in Cody Bellinger and Seager, one batter before Taylor's home run.

Taylor doubled in pinch-runner Terrance Gore in the seventh for the Dodgers final run. Gore ran for Pollock who singled.

Right-hander Taylor Clarke (1-2), the first of five Arizona pitchers, took the loss, allowing five runs and six hits over four innings.

Like most sporting events around the world, fans were barred from attending the game under public health directives prohibiting public events and gatherings in an attempt to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

The Dodgers will play their final exhibition game Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium. They will open the abbreviated 60-game regular season Thursday night against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.
