Average L.A. County Gas Price Drops Slightly For Second Consecutive Day

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped four-tenths of a cent today to $3.129, one day after decreasing two-tenths of a cent.

The average price is six-tenths of a cent more than a week ago and 6.9 cents higher than one month ago but 59.8 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 48.6 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.114, one day after remaining unchanged. It is 1.1 cents more than one week ago and 8 cents higher than one month ago but 57.7 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 43.1 cents since the start of the year.

“Price increases have plateaued because refineries increased production compared to prior weeks while demand has lagged a bit in recent weeks,"  Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager, told City News Service.
