Joanna Cole, author of the beloved 'Magic School Bus' series, has died at the age of 75.
Cole died on Sunday due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, publishing company Scholastic announced on Wednesday.
"Joanna Cole had the perfect touch for blending science and story," Scholastic Chairman and CEO Dick Robinson said in a statement. "Joanna's books, packed with equal parts humor and information, made science both easy to understand and fun for the hundreds of millions of children around the world who read her books and watched the award-winning television series."

Cole created the series in 1986 after Scholastic's editors kept getting requests from teachers about science books for kids. Since then, the Magic School Bus has sold more than 93 million print copies in 13 countries.
The series was later adapted into an animated PBS show, with actress Lily Tomlin voicing Ms. Frizzle. That animated series lasted for 18 years!
There is also a Magic School Bus movie currently in the works, with Elizabeth Banks set to play Ms. Frizzle.
